Art Review Names Matrilineal’s Jakkai Siributr Among Top 10

Jakkai Siributr's  "Matrilineal" exhibition, curated by Loredana Pazzini-Paracciani has been recognized as the second most notable show in our region for 2024, according to Art Forum Magazine's rankings by Hung Duong.

"Renowned for his use of textile craftsmanship to reflect upon Thai national history, Jakkai Siributr decided to switch to a more personal storytelling approach in his most recent solo show, “Matrilineal” Meticulously embroidering and mending fragments of family heirlooms—mainly old clothes belonging to his grandmother, mother, and aunties—Siributr created aesthetically provocative yet keenly intimate large-scale tapestry installations that collectively functioned both as a sacred altar dedicated to his family’s matriarchs and a lieu de mémoire (interspersed with delicate floral arrangements, family photos, and portraits of his beloveds) where personal narratives collided with the political dilemmas that engulfed Thailand during WWII." - Excerpt from the original article below;
