Prof. John Clark to Discuss Siributr's Embroidery Practice and Social Engagement for Matrilineal's 2nd Public Program, including family history and legacy.

TALK BY PROF. JOHN CLARK
AND A CONVERSATION WITH JAKKAI SIRIBUTR
MODERATED BY LOREDANA PAZZINI-PARACCIANI

Departing from the themes explored in the exhibition, that is, the awareness of the impermanence of life, and the importance of revisiting the past to maintain the memory of our loved ones in the face of history, this talk looks at Siributr’s practice and ongoing involvement with embroidery, stitching and sawing to address contemporary social issues, as well as his family’s history and legacy. Prof John Clark will expand on Sirbutr’s textile education in the USA, and the relevance of his practice in Thailand from his earlier works to Matrilineal.
