Matrilineal's 3rd Public Program: Timeless Blooms, features Mattana Snidvongs na Ayudhya leading an Ikebana arrangement workshop.
Saturday, February 17th, 2024 | 1:00 PM – 4:00 PM | At 100 Tonson Foundation
Providing a visually striking and emotionally resonant experience, the floral artist Mattana Snidvongs na Ayudhya will be conducting the Ikebana workshop to reflect on the ephemeral and transitory nature of life – sentiments that underpin the framework of the exhibition. Jakkai Siributr’s grandmother, Mom Samoe, was an Ikebana expert. To honour her memory and incorporate the idea of finding beauty in the circle of life.
“Timeless Blooms” invites participants to delve into the art of Ikebana by drawing inspiration from the natural beauty of fields. This workshop stands out by embracing a dualistic approach, combining the vibrancy of fresh flowers with the rustic charm of field-dried plants. The central theme revolves around the seamless blend of past and present, creating arrangements that echo the enduring elegance found in the passage of time.
In addition to the designed workshop, Mattana will create and display a series of Ikebana arrangements for the entire duration of the exhibition, using the same vessels Mom Samoe used for her arrangements, establishing a dialogue with each of Jakkai Siributr's works in Matrilineal.
Timeless Blooms, Ikebana Workshop will be held on Saturday, 17 February 2024 at 100 Tonson Foundation from 1:00 PM – 4:00 PM. The vessels will be prepared for the participants.
