A mixed-media installation exploring the condition of "Spiritual Capitalism" in contemporary Thai society. By using encaustic wax, the work serves as a metaphor for the transformation of religious faith into a market commodity, questioning how Buddhist principles are impacted by modern consumerist logic.

About the artist
Tada Hengsapkul (b. 1987, Korat) is a Thai multidisciplinary artist whose research-driven practice examines the relationship between contemporary political conditions and historical precedents while imagining more hopeful futures. Drawing on official archives, informal discourse, and popular media, his work explores themes of nationalism, democracy, and military power in Thailand and across the region.
Growing up in the Isan region of northeastern Thailand—an area shaped by the Second Indochina War and the establishment of U.S. military bases during the Cold War—deeply influenced his perspective. Tada connects personal and local histories with broader geopolitical events, including the 2014 coup d’état, investigating how legacies of war, control, and resistance continue to shape collective memory.
Trained in photography at Pohchang Academy of Fine Arts, he initially worked with photography and moving image before expanding into painting, watercolor, protest materials such as smoke bombs and gunpowder, and interactive kinetic installations. Across these mediums, his work advocates for freedom, resistance, and compassion.
His work has been exhibited internationally, including at M+, Hong Kong; the Museum of Contemporary Art and Design, Manila; MAIIAM Contemporary Art Museum, Chiang Mai; the Bangkok Art Biennale; and the 9th Asia Pacific Triennial of Contemporary Art in Brisbane. Tada Hengsapkul lives and works in Bangkok, Thailand.
